Drew PuziaDrew Puzia
(Composer/Librettist)

After reading the novella, Anthem, by Ayn Rand, Mr. Puzia was inspired to bring this unusual book to life. Upon learning that Ms. Rand had also had dreams to bring this story to stage in the form of ballet, he felt it was only right that he set her story to music and to, at last, bring it to the stage.

Drew Puzia is drawn to powerful themes, and the theme of Anthem, which is the struggle of individualism over collectivism, (or group thought), is very inspiring to him. "We live in a media driven society where we are constantly being influenced on what to watch on television, who to vote for, what to believe, what to wear, etc. Never has there been a more poignant time to encourage people to stand for what they believe in and most importantly, to believe in one's own self. It would be a shame to lose the freedoms we all hold so dear."

Drew Puzia is a member of the esteemed Dramatists Guild, and this is Mr. Puzia's second musical play, the first being, The Ghost of Miles Quint, in which he wrote the entire story, book, music and lyrics. He has played, written and performed music nearly his entire life. Other songs include, A Change of Fate, and most notably 9-11, which he wrote after terrible tragedy at the World Trade Centers, and for which he has received critical acclaim. He is inspired by music from nearly every genre including, various forms of rock, opera, classical, folk, blues & jazz. It is as a result of these varied musical influences that Anthem is the strong, rock driven play with new ideas and an entirely new musical feel.

Katherine ToussaintKatherine Toussaint

Katherine has played an important role in the development of this play. She has worked closely with Mr. Puzia to help develop Anthem in to an inspirational and timely rock musical using her artistic talents, her performing arts experience and her education. Ms. Toussaint attended California Institute of the Arts and graduated from California State University at Northridge with a B.A. in Art. She too was inspired by Anthem's theme which is so pertinent in the 21st century.
